Kimmie Dobbs Chan received a BS in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2006 after spending two years at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She has worked in the Washington area since 2003 as a certified instructor of STOTT PILATES and since 2008 as a Certified Instructor of GYROTONIC exercise. Growing up, Kimmie studied with Ballet Theatre of Annapolis and Fran’s Studio of Dance, and has participated in the New York City Dance Alliance Intensive, North Carolina School for the Arts summer program, and classes with the Kirov Preparatory program and at the EDGE Performing Arts Center. Kimmie’s professional dance debut was as the role of Clara in the Chicago debut of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in 1997. During college Kimmie began teaching dance at Metropolitan Fine Arts Center, where she met Enoch and also made her choreographic debut at their 2004 recital based on the production of “Lion King”. After college, Kimmie performed with BosmaDance in the 2006/2007 season, and in the fall of 2007 began focusing her attention, with Enoch, on the creation of DEVIATED THEATRE, and it’s first original production, 'Aspiro-step into curiosity', which premiered at Dance Place July 2008, to sold out performances. Kimmie and Enoch have since created another evening-length production, 'LORE-A MYSTERY awaits', a short, "TOKEN-the stakes are altered", and are working on their second short to be called, "Sway". Sway premieres in Rockville May 2010. |
